THE JARGON DECODER
Decoding complex policy terms into plain English so you can focus on making an impact.
📌 Term: Blended Finance →
When public and private money team up to fund social or environmental projects. Governments or nonprofits take on some of the risk, making it safer for private investors to jump in.
Big problems like climate change or poverty need big money. Blended finance helps direct billions into impact projects that would normally be seen as "too risky" for traditional investors.
How It Shows Up in the Real World: In Kenya, blended finance was used to expand off-grid solar energy. Public funds de-risked the project, which encouraged private investors to put in more money, helping bring clean electricity to remote communities.
